Little League Divisions Age Group Guide for ParentsTo ensure your child is placed in the appropriate division for their age and skill level, please refer to the age group guidelines below when signing up for Little League. These guidelines are based on your child's league age for the upcoming season, which is determined by their age on August 31st of the current year. Use this age to choose the correct division.

USA Softball 2025 Age Chart
1. Tee Ball (Coed, Ages 4-5)
- Division Overview: This is an introductory level where children learn the basic skills of baseball or softball, including hitting from a tee and understanding the game.
- Eligibility: Children must be at least 4 years old by August 31st to be eligible.
2. Coach Pitch (Coed, Ages 6-7)
- Division Overview: In this division, kids are introduced to pitching from a coach, building on the skills they learned in Tee Ball. Players start learning the fundamentals of hitting live pitches, fielding, and base running.
- Eligibility: Children must be at least 6 years old by August 31st and no older than 8 years old.
3a. Minors (McCormack League) (Boys, Ages 8-9)
- Division Overview: The Minor League focuses on teaching pitching, hitting, and fielding with live pitches. Players also work on teamwork and more advanced rules of the game. This is an important developmental step before moving to the Major League.
- Eligibility: Boys must be at least 8 years old by August 31st.
3b. U8 Softball (Girls, Ages 7-8)
- Division Overview: U8 Softball is for girls are introduced to pitching from a coach, building on the skills they learned in Tee Ball. Players start learning the fundamentals of hitting live pitches, fielding, and base running.
- Eligibility: Girls must be at least 7 years old by August 31st.
4a. U10 Softball (Girls, Ages 9-10)
- Division Overview: The Minor League is for girls who are ready for live pitching. This division offers more advanced play with players pitching to each other, while continuing to focus on skills development such as base running, fielding, and team strategy.
- Eligibility: Girls must be at least 9 years old by August 31st.
4b. Majors (Boys, Ages 10-12)
- Division Overview: The Major League is the highest level for Little League players. This division features kid-pitch games, more advanced strategies, and competitive play. Players refine their skills in all aspects of the game.
- Eligibility: Children must be at least 10 years old by August 31st.
